Vietnam's popular island Phu Quoc has received over 775,000 foreign arrivals in the first five months of this year, up 78.3% year-on-year.

The island received a total 3.5 million visitors during the January-May period, up 30.5% year-on-year and earned tourism revenues of VND17.9 trillion (US$687 million), up 87%, according to Kien Giang Province's news portal.

In addition to traditional markets, the number of visitors from India, South Korea, China and Cambodia has also increased significantly.

Many Cambodian tourists enter through Ha Tien International Border Gate and Giang Thanh Border Gate, then travel by speedboat to Phu Quoc.

Phu Quoc Island, voted the world's second most beautiful by readers of Travel+Leisure magazine last year after the Maldives, aims to attract 1 million foreign visitors in 2025.
